Cheapest Airprint Printer

George asks…
what is the cheapest printer made with “airprint” capabilities?
it must have airprint capabilities not to be confused with eprint.

Matt Matty answers:
Hi George,
I get asked that question a lot as you might guess, I’ve answered it many times. However, just cause I’ve answered it before doesn’t diminish the fact that you want to know the answer… I like typing – can you guess? OK, you’ve waited long enough. To find my recent answer to your question, please visit this link: Finding-Airprint-Printers for the iPad. You asked for the cheapest and that is a relative term. Seeing how only one company is producing Airprint printers, competition isn’t a factor. Still though, the printers listed in that post are reasonably priced. I hope you find one to meet your needs (and pocketbook).

Learn More About Mac Compatible All In One Printers

Helen asks…
Mac OS X 10.4 COMPATIBLE printer says “Idle” when it worked fine previously?
We recently just bought a HP Officejet 5610 All in One printer that claimed to be compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. We have an intel iMac running Mac OS X 10.4.9. The printer had a quick response and printed fine last night but now we are getting an error saying “Idle” in the Apple printer window when we go to print a document to this printer.
The printer is on. The USB connections are tight and secure. The software is installed properly. The drivers are fine. Startting/Stopping and/or Holding/Resuming the job does not help and only goes to an “opening printer connection” error message.
Any help is appreciated…..

Matt Matty answers:
Idle means it didn’t get anything to print: sitting idle.
If it received a job but didn’t print, it would have said something about “print job received” or something like that and flash a paper error.
Sounds like a cabling problem to me.

Your Questions About Best Printer For Ipad

Nancy asks…
Best AirPrint printer for iPad 2?
I am getting an iPad 2 and would like to know the best, preferably most inexpensive, printer for it.
Thank You

Matt Matty answers:
I’ve actually answered that question before…. You can find the answer here: Best Printers for iPad 2

William asks…
How to connect HP Officejet J4680 wireless to Ipad 2 ?
I’ve been trying for the past hour to try and connect my printer to my iPad. Is it even possible? I’ll pick the best answer of anyone who helps me! Also, I already have my printer setup to my wifi.
Please & thank you

Matt Matty answers:
Sorry William but the Officejet J4680 is not supported thru Airprint. See the link in the answer above for the printers currently supported.

Ken asks…

Sandra asks…
Help with printing on iPad pleeeease! Is print central reliable?
I’ve heard the best print app for iPad 2 is print central pro….. However, I have heard a few reviews saying it was not compatible with some printers, and I would like if all I had to do is install the app and use it…. No we print stuff. Does anyone either know if it works with Epson sx 300 series printer or a better more foolproof app for this?? Also my Epson one IS wireless…

Matt Matty answers:
Apple has a feature called airprint some HP prints have this feature build in check out this link for AIRPRINT HP Printers. Those printers connect to your network wirelessly through your router and make the printer available to all you devices, including your iPad. A note though, the printing functions on the iPad are still pretty crude. You cannot print selected pages or tell the printer which paper tray to select. But, you can print documents and I think the print function will mature as the iPad does..

Donna asks…
The best wireless router…?
I have a PC, an imac and am thinking of buying an Ipad, primarily for home use. I want to buy a wireless modem/router and have it connected to the PC. Currently I have a three year old netcomm modem/router and its getting a bit out dated i think.
What wireless router will work with both platforms? Any recommendations? Also, do they make entry level wireless laser printers?
Thanks
Or is it better to get a wireless router and then connect a wired printer to this? Can computers send print files to the routers as well as accessing internet at same time?

Matt Matty answers:
Asking “the best wireless router…” is like asking which car is better. All of them have good and bad points, all of them are capable of doing the job in most cases. Linksys, DLink, Netgear are the bigger names for home users but there are some routers that put them to shame. Just get the best one you can afford.
A router doesn’t have any specific “control” computer, all computers that are connected are connected any computer can “control” the router. Routers work, even without any computers connected to them (although they just sit there.)
If your Netcomm router is working and is connecting the computers you need and has the speed you need then its not outdated. G routers are still very common and work if they cover the range you need, N routers are faster for local networking but only if all local devices are wireless N devices.
Yes routers can connect to “network ready” wired printers and yes routers can send files to computers, printers, etc and access the internet at the same time….. That is what they do.
